Privacy at Dislite
A plain-language overview of what Dislite stores, why, and what it never asks for.
What we never ask for
- No government ID and no face scan or selfie.
- No phone number.
- No ads, and no advertising or analytics trackers on the site.
What we store to run your account
- Account details: your email address, username and a hash of your password. The password itself is never stored.
- Profile: the avatar, banner, custom status and ringtone you choose to add.
- Security: your two-factor secret and hashed backup codes, if you turn two-factor login on.
- Your content: messages, files, voice notes, polls and clips you post, plus your groups and friends list, so they show up on all your devices.
- Presence: your status and when you were last online, so friends can see if you're around.
- Notifications: a push subscription for each device where you turn notifications on.
Technical data
Your IP address is used to rate limit requests, which stops spam and password guessing. During calls, the app reports call quality numbers such as latency, jitter and packet loss so we can keep voice working well. We keep server logs for running and fixing the service.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare sits in front of the site and handles the connection to it.
- LiveKit carries voice and video for calls.
- Your browser's push service (from Google, Apple or Mozilla) delivers notifications if you enable them.
We don't sell your data to anyone.
Your controls
- Hide your email address in the app with email masking.
- Edit or delete your own messages.
- Turn notifications off per device or mute single channels.
